Roasted cabbage is a quick and healthy platform for all sorts of toppings.

When you slice a whole cabbage into rounds and bake them, they are called roasted cabbage steaks.

These steaks can be served with just a little seasoning, or with all sorts of sauces and toppings.

Here, we’re adding just a few key Irish ingredients to complement the cabbage, and create massive appeal.

Keto Roasted Cabbage Steaks with Irish Toppings

We’re calling these little beauties low carb pizza (or keto pizza) because once they are roasted, and the cheese has melted over the top, you can pick them up and eat them like a slice of pizza.

However, if you prefer not to get your fingers dirty, of course, you can use a knife and fork.

If you are not a fan of cabbage, you can swap the cabbage for cauliflower and make roasted cauliflower steaks for the base of the pizzas.

Irish Roasted Cabbage Low Carb Pizza Ingredients

  • Olive oil – To help roast the cabbage steaks and provide flavor.
  • Green Cabbage – Sliced into 3/4-1 inch rounds.
  • Whole Grain Mustard – Mild or spicy. I always go with spicy!
  • Corned Beef – Deli slices.
  • Dubliner Cheese – Shredded.
  • Scallions – Chopped.

You’ll also need salt and pepper, but that probably doesn’t need to go on the grocery list.

How To Make Roasted Cabbage Steaks

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Hold the root-end of the cabbage. Slice the cabbage into six 3/4 inch rounds. Lay the cabbage rounds on the baking sheet and brush with olive oil. Then sprinkle generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Roast the cabbage steaks in the oven for 15-20 minutes, until crispy around the edges.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

  • Hold the root-end of the cabbage. Slice the cabbage into six 3/4 inch rounds. Lay the cabbage rounds on the baking sheet and brush with olive oil. Then sprinkle generously with salt and pepper.

  • Roast the cabbage steaks in the oven for 15-20 minutes, until crispy around the edges.

  • Meanwhile, shred the Dubliner cheese. Chop the scallions. And slice the deli corned beef into 1/2 inch ribbons.

  • Brush 1 teaspoon whole grain mustard over the top of each roasted cabbage steak. Then top with corned beef and shredded cheese. Place the cabbage pizzas back in the oven for 5 minutes to heat the corned beef and melt the cheese.

  • Sprinkle with chopped scallions and serve warm.

Notes

Can’t find corned beef or Dubliner cheese? You can swap the corned beef for pastrami, and the Dubliner for any Irish cheese, or even sharp cheddar.
