How to make natural antibiotic with this easy homemade home remedy recipe. The antibioticelixir is made only from plant-based ingredients that you can easily find at the store or market, or even grow yourself at home!
Natural antibiotic to strengthen the immune system
No one denies that many lives have been saved thanks to antibiotics. However, they also have numerous side effects and you can develop resistance if you take them too often. Therefore, you should perhaps not grab them directly for every harmless minor thing. Did you know that there are also many plant-based foods that have an antibiotic effect? This recipe will show you how you can easily combine these medicinal plants to make a kind of natural “antibiotic” for prevention.
The basic recipe for this antibiotic is said to have originated in the Middle Ages, while people suffered from many diseases and epidemics. It is also known as “Fire Cider Tonic”. Ideally, the herbal elixir should ferment for 10-14 days before first use. However, in acute cases it could also be taken immediately unfermented. More detailed information on how to use it and dosage recommendations are mentioned below.
It should be noted, however, that this natural antibiotic is not intended for life-threatening emergencies, but rather for mild to moderate infections like or cold or inflammations or for skin or tooth problems orpreventive to strengthen the immune system. Anyone with acute health problems should always consult a doctor.
The secret power mix of ginger, garlic, turmeric, chili & Co
The following herbal ingredients are needed for this home remedy recipe. They all have special antibiotic properties, so they make a natural antibiotic when they’re combined. Also keep in mind that the health benefits listed are only a sampling I have gathered through my own research. So I can’t guarantee their accuracy or completeness.
Natural Antibiotics
- Ginger: contains healthy essential oils and gingerol, which have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic effects. In addition, ginger is rich in vitamin C, magnesium, iron, calcium, potassium, sodium, phosphorus, as well as antioxidants.
- Turmeric: the curcumin it contains inhibits inflammation, has an antioxidant effect and can help with many common diseases such as rheumatism, diabetes and arthritis. In addition, the Ayurvedic medicinal root is said to regenerate the intestinal mucosa and the intestinal flora.
- Horseradish: is considered to be anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antibacterial. The mustard oils it contains can prevent colds and relieve pain. It also contains important minerals such as potassium, calcium and vitamins B1, B2 and B6.
- Garlic: contains the most powerful natural antibiotic “allicin“. Due to its antiviral effect, garlic can fight harmful bacteria, viruses and fungi. It also has a mild blood thinning and blood pressure lowering effect, which can be beneficial for cardiovascular diseases.
- Onion: is related to garlic, so together they make the perfect antibiotic team.
- Chili: thanks to the ingredient capsaicin, the vegetable has an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. Furthermore, chili strengthens the immune system as well as the defenses and stimulates the blood circulation.
- Dandelion honey: or agave syrup is used as a vegan alternative to regular honey. Those who are not vegan can also use blossom honey or even better Manuka honey, because this is also considered to be a natural antibiotic.
- Black pepper: has an anti-inflammatory, immune-boosting, digestive effect and increases the bioavailability of turmeric.
- Organic apple cider vinegar (unfiltered): has an antibacterial effect, lowers cholesterol levels, regulates blood pressure and supports the mineral balance. It is also known as an effective home remedy for the prevention of colds, as it cleanses the lymph nodes.
How to make natural antibiotic – Here’s how easy the recipe is!
As always, I recommend checking out the recipe video and these step-by-step instructions first. Then you can find the full recipe with exact measurements in the recipe card below!
Step 1: Chop and grate the ingredients
First, peel the ginger, turmeric and horseradish and grate into a bowl. Next, peel and finely chop the onion and add to the bowl. Now peel the garlic cloves as well and add them too. Then finely chop the chili and add to the bowl.
Step 2: Pour in apple cider vinegar and leave to infuse
Now add dandelion honey and pepper and mix everything well. Pour the mixture into a clean, large 1 l screw-top or preserving jar and add the apple cider vinegar. Close the jar tightly and let it ferment for 10-14 days in a cool, dark place (e.g., cellar, storage room, or refrigerator).
Step 3: Strain and fill into bottles
Next, pour the extract through a fine-mesh strainer and squeeze it as best you can. Pour the essence into several small or one large screw-top or preserving jar and store in the refrigerator. More information on storage is mentioned below.
Can I use the pomace?
You can put the pulpy residue in a clean screw-top or preserving jar, pour canola or olive oil over it until it is covered, and then store it in the refrigerator for several weeks. You can use it to season soups, stews, curries and other dishes. Combined with olive oil, it also makes a great healthy salad dressing!
If you have a dehydrator, you can also dehydrate the pomace until dry. Then grind it and put it in a sealed jar or container and use it as a spice. Alternatively, you could dry the pomace at a low temperature in the oven.
Shelf life and storage
The natural antibiotic can be stored in several small or one large screw-top or preserving jar for up to 2 months in the refrigerator. It is even better to put the elixir in a dark bottle like the empty bottle from the apple cider vinegar, so that it is also protected from light.
The jars should be clean and sterile, so that no unwanted bacteria and microorganisms settle. You should also pay attention to hygiene during the production process.
Usage Instructions
- To preventively strengthen your immune system and fight mild colds, you can consume 1 tablespoon every day. To treat acute symptoms such as an illness or infection, you can increase the dose up to 5 tablespoons per day. In this case it is best to consume 1 tablespoon at a time throughout the day about 30 minutes before having a meal.
- The extract is very concentrated and therefore spicy and sour! So if you generally do not tolerate spicy or sour foods well, it is better to first test a small amount for tolerance or thin out the elixir with water or fruit juice.
- If you consume the natural antibiotic pure on an empty stomach, the effect is increased. It is best to take it in the morning and then wait 30 minutes before eating breakfast or drinking coffee.
- If you have an infection in your mouth or throat or dental problems, you can thin the home remedy with a little water and then gargle for a few seconds before swallowing it.
- If you have a serious illness or are taking medication, always talk with your doctor first. The same applies to pregnant women, nursing mothers and children.
